The Bently Reserve

301 Battery St, San Francisco, CA 94111

About The Bently Reserve – The Old Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco Building, now known as the Bently Reserve, was the main headquarters building of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco for nearly sixty years. The building is located in the Financial District of San Francisco. Designed by George W. Kelham, the building has an Ionic colonnade, while the upper building is in the new Moderne fashion of 1924. The banking lobby at the Sansome Street entrance contains a mural by Jules Guerin, the artist who created the palette for the 1915Panama-Pacific International Exposition. The Old Federal Reserve was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Secret Location Revealed!

The Gaslamp Quarter!

308 G Street, San Diego CA 92101

About The Gaslamp –  Known as the the historic heart of San Diego, it’s a 16½ block historical neighborhood and the center of downtown night life. The Quarter is home to many events and festivals, including Marti Gras in the Gaslamp, Street Scene, Taste of Gaslamp and more. PetCo Park, home of the Padres, is located one block away in downtown San Diego’s East Village.

A Historic District, and named on the National Register of Historic Places, it’s main period of development began in 1867, when Alonzo Horton (Horton Plaza anyone?) bought the land in hopes of creating a new city center closer to the bay, and chose 5th Avenue as its main street. After a period of neglect, the neighborhood underwent a transformation in the 1980s and 1990s and is now an energetic business and entertainment district. The Gaslamp Quarter extends from Broadway to Harbor Drive, and from 4th to 6th Avenue. It includes 94 historic buildings, most of which were constructed in the Victorian Era, and are still in use with active tenants including restaurants, shops and nightclubs.

2014…Here We Come!

In 2014, Hand Made Events officially enters its 3rd year and we are very excited about everything that lies ahead! January started off with some exciting changes and also some exciting NEWS!

Hand Made Events will be expanding in 2014 with 4 new events and 2 new cities! The PopUp Evening of Masquerade in Los Angeles and San Diego. We are very excited to start visiting Los Angeles and San Diego twice a year now – in the summer for the PopUp Evening in White and now the Winter for the PopUp Evening of Masquerade.

The PopUp Evening in White is expanding to the East Coast in 2014 – Brooklyn AND Miami – 2 incredible cities that will really take this event on and make it their own!! We have been planning to start these two events for the last year and now we are anxious to get started. Garrett was a long time Brooklyn resident who has not been “home” in over 5 years. I’m a newbie to Brooklyn, having only been there twice… once when my girlfriends and I visited Manhattan in 2003 and crossed the bridge to dine at Sea and then when I ran through it in 2008 competing in the NYC marathon.  But these 2014 trips will be different. Scouting for locations is one of my favorite things about my job because you get to know a city and it’s landscape so well and you get to see and discover very unique spaces … and when it comes time for the actual event you get to know the personality and character of the people that make each city special by experiencing their unique expression at the event (I am also excited for Garrett to take me to his old stomping ground and get a glimpse into his life pre-family!)

Our extremely small team is growing! Cayleigh has joined Hand Made Events as an intern! Cayleigh is from Ohio and is currently a senior at the University of South Carolina. This brave 21 year old packed her things on January 15th and moved West to California just to join us on this mad journey and gain experience for credit during her final semester. If we could describe Cayleigh in a few words they would be adventurous, life loving and excitable! So as you can imagine… she fits right in! Cayleigh is a Special Events Management major and has experience planning weddings with various companies and also events for the 2012 London Olympic games. Thanks to her Uncle Kip (a California resident that shared our info with her), she flew out to meet us at the last PopUp Evening in White event of 2013 in Sonoma. She had an amazing time and fell in love with the concept and our plans for the future.  She is already proving to be a great asset and within a week I wondered how we ever got along without her!  Big Welcome to Cayleigh!

2013 was full of so many incredible moments and lots of learning experiences.  Hand Made Events is the perfect lens through which we live and learn in our life…and we can’t wait to see everyone again when we return to San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Minneapolis and Sonoma at our 2014 events and meet new friends in Brooklyn and Miami. Keep your bags packed Cayleigh! We have a full calendar and many plane rides in our immediate future!

But before we leave and in the reflective spirit of January, here is a look back at 2013… our favorite photo from each event. Enjoy!
